We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering and QA teams for our clinical surveillance products in healthcare. The focus is to manage a growing team of ten seasoned engineers with an initial focus on scalability, technical debt mitigation, and reduction, overhauling architecture, data, and ETL pipelines as needed, and enhancing our development velocity and quality to achieve ambitious goals and milestones.

This is a key contributing role that helps us in our accelerated growth, which shapes the future of our products and company growth. You will collaborate closely with the clinical subject matter expert team, stakeholders in R&D and sales, and clinical customers to deliver innovative solutions that improve patient care across the country. The position is permanently remote, allowing you to work anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.

What you will do

  • Lead the architectural overhaul of current systems to ensure scalability and efficiency.
  • Mitigate and reduce technical debt and continuously improve software engineering practices and processes.
  • Enhance team performance and product quality through effective leadership, strategic planning and utilization of AI.
  • Ensure robust, scalable, and efficient database design and ETL processes.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and hands-on problem-solving within the technology team.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and clients to align technical developments with market needs.
  • Oversee QA, deployment strategies, and support the lifecycle of production applications.

What you bring to the team

  • At least 15+ years of experience in technology, with significant hands-on development and management experience.
  • Proven track record as a hands-on technical leader managing a team and contributing technically.
  • Expertise in database design (both SQL and NoSQL) and ETL processes.
  • Proven experience in scalability in a startup environment.
  • Strong familiarity with SOA-based development practices and production support.
  • Experience in healthcare technology is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of working with a diverse range of personalities and stakeholders.
